Murata Electronics North America Introduces Miniaturized 3A DC-DC Converter
Low Cost Converter Saves Board Space and Reduces Power Consumption
Smyrna, GA, April 15, 2008 - Murata Electronics North America, a world-leading innovator in electronics and the largest global supplier of ceramic passive components and power supplies, today introduced the new MPDTY201S DC-DC converter. Designed with a small footprint (11.4mm x 8.9mm x 5.6mm MAX) in a surface mount package to reduce board space, the new converter offers high-efficiency across the industrial operating temperature range in order to minimize power consumption.  These and many other features make the MPDTY201S ideal for distributed power architectures in telecom and datacom markets. Base stations, routers, FTTx, computer servers, instrumentation and test equipment applications benefit particularly well from this converter’s layout and functionality.

Requiring only small external ceramic capacitors on the output, the MPDTY201S point-of-load converter also offers a wide input voltage range, an adjustable output voltage and remote on/off switch control providing design flexibility for engineers. In addition, the new converter includes an output voltage sense function. Additional features of Murata’s new DC-DC converter include:
